How did Noreen Hay do it again?
It's the question many have asked after the incumbent moved swiftly to claim an election win - and her fourth term as Wollongong MP - at the weekend.
The electorate's "rusted-on" Labor voters clearly kept the status quo in mind at the ballot box, with the initial primary vote count showing Ms Hay romped to victory at southern-suburb polling centres.
Ms Hay garnered almost five times the number of votes of her nearest challenger - the No Land Tax candidate of the same first name, Noreen Colonelli - at Warrawong Public School on Saturday.
Similar triumphs were recorded at Warrawong Hall, the Port Kembla Senior Citizens Centre and Farmborough Road Public School in Unanderra.
In the hours before her 9pm victory speech, Ms Hay spent time at most of her electorate's 34 polling places.
However, she admitted to feeling right at home in Berkeley.
Every second house on Northcliffe Drive in the suburb has had Ms Hay's corflutes in the front yards for weeks and the fence of Berkeley West Public School was covered in the posters.
Some residents were forthcoming with words of support and encouragement at the school gate on Saturday.
"I voted for you, love," one woman told Ms Hay.
"Good luck hun, you won't need it," another voter said.
"See, what's not to like about Berkeley?" Ms Hay said in response.
And, going by the numbers, that love was returned at the ballot box.
Following the initial primary vote count, Ms Hay was 670 votes clear of independent challenger Arthur Rorris at Berkeley Public School, while she was 492 votes ahead of Mr Rorris at Berkeley West Public.
Mr Rorris topped the poll at Mount St Thomas Public School - the spot he cast his vote on Saturday morning.
The independent also won the Mount Kembla Public School booth, where Liberal candidate and resident of the suburb Cameron Walters also finished ahead of Ms Hay.
The battle was closest at the Fernhill Guide Hall, where just 18 votes separated Ms Hay and Mr Rorris, while fewer than 100 votes separated the pair at Wollongong Town Hall.
