The Illawarra Choral Society has rolled out the big guns for its first ever concert in Dapto.
Sydney-based baritone Alexander Knight, who has sung at the Adelaide Festival and Edinburgh's Fringe, will take centre stage at Dapto Anglican Church Auditorium this Saturday.
Society director Meryl Jackson-Kew said the choir was looking forward to taking its first bow at Dapto with its Meet the Romantics concert on May 16.
"It's an exciting new venture for the choir to perform in Dapto as quite a few of our members live in this area and this offers a great opportunity for us to perform in their community," she said.
The program includes songs by Schumann, Brahms and Schubert and the main work of the afternoon, key excerpts from Mendelssohn's Elijah.
The venue may be unfamiliar to the choristers, but they will be performing alongside some old favourites, including Knight, who last sang with the choir in 2013.
They also welcome back former member Despina Haise who will perform as the mezzo-soprano soloist.
Her last work with the choir was conducting last year's Brahms' Requiem in Wollongong.
Organist Heather Moen-Boyd also returns, as does Smith's Hill High student and violinist Joy Liu.
"We are thrilled to have Joy working with us and expect her to have a promising future with both violin and piano," Jackson-Kew said.
Meet the Romantics is on May 16, 2pm, at the auditorium in Moombara Street.
