Mr McGlinchey, a Jamberoo dairy and cattle farmer, has worked tirelessly since WWII to support equestrian competitions within the region and state.
He was instrumental in the formation of shows at Nowra, Berry, Kiama, Dapto and Albion Park and has worked as a steward in Olympic showjumping at the Sydney Royal Easter Show since it was first introduced to Australia in 1953.
A steward is a licensed official tasked with enforcing the rules of each show society.
Highlights of his career include judging the best horse in New Zealand.
"It's a great honour to get this award," Mr McGlinchey said. "There's not too many of them around."
The 85-year-old retired from volunteer work just five years ago.
"Well I enjoyed it. It was part of my life," he said. "Every show is different. It was an interest. It took a fair bit of time but I liked meeting different people from all over the state and country."
Mr McGlinchey has been associated with many groups in the dairy industry and sporting arena.
He was a showjumping competitor from the age of four.
"Because I competed when I was young, judging came natural to me," he said.
He has judged all over NSW, as well as South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
Mr McGlinchey was the ring master of the Kiama Show Society until 2003 and president for many years. He is a life member of the Nowra and Berry show societies.
He was Kiama Citizen of the Year in 2013 and awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
