Ms Ianni was invited to showcase her signature collection after a meeting with the director of Fashion Palette in Sydney earlier this year where the Antonella Ianni label was first showcased to rave reviews.
Not only did those in the know give it the nod when they saw it on the catwalk but the the range designed to help empower businesswomen attracted huge attention on social media.
The garments were all designed and made in Wollongong and it is the same collection Mr Ianni took to New York this week.
While there she was first invited to preview her collection to key members of New York’s fashion industry by AFA Gallery of Soho on Wednesday in support of their upcoming exhibition Haute Debutantes.
Ms Ianni then got the opportunity to introduce her Spring 2016 collection to the US market during New York Fashion Week at Fashion Palette, Chelsea Piers, on Thursday.
Both were well received.
Ms Ianni’s style is based on traditional men’s tailoring but with a distinct feminine and androgynous flair.
And she has turned heads in the US fashion capital for the way she has drawn inspiration from texture and a delicate balance between masculine lines and feminine empowerment to create a distinctive cut for modern women.
‘‘I’m here for eight days,’’ she said.
‘‘It is so exciting to actually be part of New York Fashion Week. Import eyes were on the show I was doing. And that could lead to a contract or something. Someone could even buy the collection. If someone places an order I am in business. I have added a few extra pieces (jackets) since Sydney.’’
The Wollongong fashion designer also had two well known American and Italian bag and jewellery designers collaborating with her to complement her range.
