Madeline Holtznagel, of Corrimal, is inspired from seeing 50 entrants in the inaugural competition raise close to $50,000 for the Light & Hope Mental Health Clubhouse as part of the Highlights on Mental Health campaign.
He sister is Simone Holtznagel who in 2011 was chosen from thousands of model hopefuls to enter Australia’s Next Top Model finishing third.
She has since moved to Los Angeles which has become the base for her international modelling career.
Simone, 22, has also appeared in music videos with Michael Bublé and Blake Shelton and the two sisters will reunite when Madeline visits the US in January.
Madeline said she had not really thought about modelling herself until seeing Illawarra’s Top Model in Crown St Mall.
She was also spotted by organiser Robyn te Velde and when they spoke she asked if there was any way she could be involved.
‘’It is for a good cause and it is a good opportunity to have something like this in Wollongong,’’ she said.
‘’Things like this are more held in Sydney. I completed my makeup diploma in February. I would love to be a celebrity make-up artist. But modelling would be fun to do as well. My sister has been doing really well lately. She has just had a few really big campaigns..which is pretty inspiring.’’
Madeline intends to enter Illawarra’s Top Model in 2016 to help raise funding for the Light & Hope Mental Health Clubhouse.
Family friends say she looks like Simone and she also has another older sister.
Ms te Velde said she would involve Madeline in the Illawarra’s Top Model final on a specially built stage in the mall on October 10 and the Highlights Ball and Glamour Awards on October 17.
