What inspired you to enter Shoot the Model?
Raising mental health awareness is extremely important to me. I was diagnosed with depression after my second child was born and have felt the frustration of knowing how it feels to have, not only strangers but also family and friends, who are unaware of the facts of mental illness.
What led to the idea/subject for the photograph? Sally asked me to photographer her. I mainly shoot landscapes and nature. She had seen some of my work and wanted some photographs in a natural environment.
What story were you telling with your entry?
Fear can take over our lives. Not long ago, I would have run in the opposite direction if I came close to a snake.
Did your model influence the style/message in your photograph?
Definitely. Sally loves nature as much as I do.
