Music teacher Cameron Zingel, 27, and Sydney Conservatorium of Music student Ryley Gillen, 22, created their own 40 piece orchestra comprising a mixed bag of talented instrumentalists from as far afield as Nowra, Mittagong, and Sydney with ages ranging from 17 up to their 60’s.
“There was a bit of a void and some of the musicians [that we know] travel to Sutherland Shire to play,” said Mr Zingel. “To have something local I just think it’s appreciated.”
Mr Gillen said he was keen to evolve the group and encourage other producers to create their own opportunities to bring strings, percussion, woodwind and brass together.
Next Friday and Saturday the group will play ghoulish sounding classical works for Halloween themed performances at the Phoenix Theatre in Coniston.
