More than 80 per cent of the harbour excavation is now complete and construction of the harbour edge is underway.

Support: 400 piles will provide foundations for the new boardwalk.
Construction has also started on a 800 metre timber boardwalk, which will link the water to the Shell Cove town centre, which will include a proposed tavern, alfresco dining and public parks.
The man-made inner harbour will be around 30 per cent larger than Sydney’s Darling Harbour once completed in late 2018.
“The development of this significant community asset is the realisation of a vision of [the] council, conceived more than 30 years ago,” mayor Marianne Saliba said.
