Driver four times over limit at Warilla

A Kiama man has been caught driving with a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, police said.

Shortly after 6.30pm on Saturday, police observed a silver Jeep Patriot travelling on the wrong side of Ulster Avenue, Warilla.

The Jeep stopped a short distance down the road and officers approached the vehicle.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was spoken to and breath-tested.

The roadside test returned a positive result for alcohol.

The man was taken to Lake Illawarra police station where a breath analysis test returned a reading of 0.226.

The 38-year-old’s licence was suspended and he was issued with a future service court attendance notice for high-range drink driving.

The man will front Port Kembla Local Court on February 3.
