Housing Trust tenants and staff were joined by Bunnings volunteers to build a vertical garden and freshen up paint work, to create a pleasant outdoor space for the young people living in Wollongong’s Stewart Street housing complex.
Housing Trust chief executive officer Joan Ferguson said the work was undertaken so the young people living there could make better use of the outdoor space.
“The outside area of the building was not as pretty as it could be and residents were not using it very much,” Ms Ferguson said.
“Bunnings came in and cleared the area and worked with Housing Trust tenants and staff,” Ms Ferguson said.
“Everyone got stuck in to make it a nice space for people to sit in.” Bunnings Wollongong manager John Karayannis said his team members were “pleased to support the Housing Trust and the wonderful work they do for young people in the Illawarra community.”
