Winner of multiple Golden Guitar awards, Harvey is celebrating Australians love for a bevvy or two, with the release of his new album “Harvey’s Bar: The Backyard Sessions”.
The compilation of original drinking songs and one cover was recorded at his home bar that’s become “a hub” for all of his family and friends.
Like many transformed “man caves” in the Illawarra, it began life as a double brick garage before being revamped with timber floors, a pool table, big screen TV and a bar “made out of a great big slab of blue gum”.
Harvey has made a replica to take on the road and hopes fans will feel right at home at The Oaks Hotel on March 13.
“I often put photos up on Facebook or talk about the bar when I’m onstage ... and people there often say ‘God I’d love to spend a night in that bar’,” he said. “So I figured I’d record an album there … so people get a taste of what a night in Harvey’s bar is like.”.
Harvey’s tips for the ultimate man-cave bar include making the bar a focal point, have plenty of storage (especially for a fridge), timber floors and the most important item is “a really good stereo” with a great collection of music.
“If you get your friends around, it’s important to create a great atmosphere.”
Adam Harvey plays at The Oaks Hotel, Sunday March 13.
