I was fascinated to read about the close encounter a Shell Cove boy had with a deadly blue-ringed octopus at The Farm beach north of Kiama last week. I say fascinated because the little fella came upon the dreaded cephalopod while blithely digging in the sand; not foolishly fiddling about in some haunted coastal rock pool - the well-known hang-out of the evil blue-ringed occy.
