Take The Arc Riders, the new Blues-rock band formed by longtime Helensburgh-based Blues musician and promoter Tony Cini.
Arc Rider? What’s an Arc Rider?
“You know what? I don’t even know,” Cini admits.
“I always like a good name. I was coming up with all these good names but looked on the internet and somebody somewhere had that name.
“My fiancee, she said to me ‘get some words you like, put a whole lot of them down and then try and put a couple together and see’.
“After a week and a half I came up with The Arc Riders.”
The name was so good, he had to Google it to make sure it wasn't taken. Fortunately for Cini, it hadn’t.
Cini spent 20 years playing in the Ginhouse Bluesband and then had a two-year break.
“Twenty years in a band, working a lot of weekends – it’s good to just chill out,” he said.
“If I came back it was going to be a brand new project, we were going to do an album before we had our first dates and I’m going to give it my all.
“And that’s what’s happened with The Arc Riders.”
The Arc Riders launch their CD at Beaches Hotel on Sunday, March 6, at 5.30pm.
