The girl’s mother woke up during the attack in their Sanctuary Point home just before 2.30am on Friday.

She disturbed the man, who then fled. 

Police are searching for the man who is described as being about 175cm tall, wearing a black hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants and a black cap worn backwards.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or who has information, to come forward.
