An exhibition showcasing four of the hottest emerging artists from the northern suburbs,“Locals Lonely”, will open at Thirroul’s Egg & Dart gallery on Friday
Curator Aaron Fell-Fracasso had been “keeping an eye” on the works of Chris Zanko, Hannah Bradbury, Nick Santoro and India Mark who all graduated from various art schools last year.
“They all had a quite diverse range of work, all had the same quality to be driven to make good work and they want to keep going with that. That impressed me,” said Fell-Fracasso.
“I wanted to get them together before they all went their separate ways.”
The collection includes oil paintings, self-portraits, detailed wood carvings of local buildings and abstract ceramics.
Fell-Fracasso said he wasn’t “pushy” in the types of work he wanted for the gallery but only wanted to have a show with great work, and at the same time offer these young-guns a good, professional environment to showcase their work.
The next big events for the Egg & Dart include their 5th birthday celebrations around the June long weekend, and housing performance artist Henry Jock Walker “to make a mess of the beautiful white gallery” for three weeks in July.
