The annual event is held the day before National Thanksgiving Day and is attended by businesspeople and members of various church congregations keen to pray for the city and region. It includes awards to members of the community that will be reported on soon. General Hurley said it was good to come home and talked about some of this experience in the army and what it taught him about servant leadership.
You need an ego to lead but you cant lead for your ego. You need to have an enormous strength in you and you have got to find a core in you that is going to get you through. There has got to be something inside you that allows you to survive and be successful. But the moment you start leading because it makes you look good, get out of the way. It is not about you. It is about the people you lead. That is what you are in the job for.
