Gerringong product Reuben Garrick, a hero of the Lions Group Seven premiership last year, has been named on the wing for the State of Origin curtain-raiser on Wednesday night.
Garrick, who played in the centres for the NSW and Australian Schoolboys teams last year, has crossed 17 times this season to be the equal leading National Youth Cup tryscorers.
Dragons under 20 teammate Matt Dufty, a Sydney junior, will play at fullback for NSW, having scored 15 tries this year.
The under 20s team is coached by former NSW, Canterbury and Parramatta forward Dean Pay. Their selection comes after Illawarra Steelers junior Zac Lomax played a major role in NSW’s under 18s win before Origin game two in Brisbane.
Lomax scored two tries in the 26-nil demolition of Queensland.
