The Solar Bonus Scheme rewarded those with solar panels by paying them for the energy they returned to the grid.
That benefit ends on December 31, after which time users will have to enter the retail market.
The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) is researching their options ahead of writing a report for the NSW government in November.
“Our report will provide information to assist solar customers to understand and make informed decisions when the Solar Bonus Scheme ends,” said IPART chair Dr Peter Boxall.
