Battling a strong North-Easterly breeze and choppy seas Port Kembla’s James Haigh claimed second place in the 19-29 years division in his first long course attempt.
Wollongong City brothers Tim Jennett (30-39 years) and Michael Jennett (40-49 years) each placed third in their age groups. This gives Tim a medal of each colour in three attempts and Michael, two bronze medals in four attempts at the iconic 41.8 km classic endurance event.
In the Masters Teams division, locals Paul Buttel and Tim Berry formed a two-man team, placing second in a top effort against other four-person teams.
Mike Mead got his Open Mixed Teams (Team Jones) away to a great start in the opening ski leg from Coolangatta to Broadbeach and back to the Miami changeover with the team finally finishing in second place.”
