Traffic remains very heavy, with 5km queues being experienced in both directions.
3.50pm: All northbound lanes of Princes Highway have been closed briefly at the Illawarra Highway roundabout to move the overturned truck trailer.
Traffic is very heavy both ways, with northbound queues of 5.2km and southbound motorists banked up 4.5km.
3pm: Extensive traffic delays are continuing at Albion Park Rail after an earlier truck accident.
Traffic remains affected in all directions after the vehicle – a truck and dog combination – got into trouble on the Princes Highway/Illawarra Highway roundabout about 1.30pm.
The vehicle’s dog trailer overturned on the roundabout’s northbound exit, spilling its contents of scrap timber onto the edge of the road and forcing the closure of one northbound lane.
All southbound lanes of the highway remain open. However, motorists are unable to turn right onto the Illawarra Highway and should use Tongarra Road instead.
Emergency services are working to clear the scene.
The truck remained upright and the driver wasn’t injured.
Meanwhile, traffic is reportedly heavy on Shellharbour Road at Warilla and Windang Road, Windang, as motorists look to avoid the accident.
1.45pm: A truck accident is causing traffic delays at Albion Park Rail.
One of two northbound lanes on the Princes Highway, at the Illawarra Highway roundabout, is closed.
All southbound lanes of the highway are open. However, the NSW Transport Management Centre says motorists are unable to turn right onto the Illawarra Highway and should use Tongarra Road instead.
Traffic in the area is heavy and motorists have been told to avoid the area or expect significant delays.
Northbound traffic on the Princes Highway is currently queued 3.5km, while the southbound queue stretches 4km.
