Family of four flee Dapto house fire

Police have appealed for public assistance after a family of four were forced to flee their burning home at Dapto early on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Coronet Place about 5.30am to find a house well alight.

A family of four and their pets managed to get themselves out of the premises after being woken by a smoke alarm.

They were uninjured. The house was destroyed.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW crews.

Lake Illawarra police are investigating the fire, but at this stage the cause is not known.
