Balgownie Hotel Fishing Club held their final fish-out for the 2016 season last weekend. There was a big roll-up of members who all had a swag of fish to be tabled while the poor barbie chef was kept flat out with the bangers and onions until the catches were weighed.

Daniel Dawson was a very happy young man when he won lucky barrel draw, mystery fish, BRE, and highest points sections and went home early for a catch-up nap after putting in long hours fishing down around Jervis Bay.
Daniel weighed a flathead of 1.3 kilos, 3 bream totalling 3.1 kilos, 3 whiting for 1.3 kilos. He recently won the annual BRE award and is still in the running for overall winner to be announced on Sunday.
Grant and Mitchell Bonner fished off Austinmer for a stud 1 kilo bream, salmon, leatherjackets, wrasse and a few snapper.
Mitchell won the Junior award and also took out 2016 annual Junior award - not bad for his first year at the club.
Ken Carden had 10 flatties for a total of 3.9 kilos but was pipped by Geoff Dryland with 10 flatties for 4.1 kilos, with Phil Cartwright weighing 10 more for 3.8 kilos.
Rod Kent fished in sloppy conditions off Sea Cliff Bridge but dropped a large snapper and blamed poor Margot who wasn’t even on board the boat.
The AGM is this Sunday, December 4, upstairs at the hotel from 12 noon and all financial members are urged to attend.
Meantime, NSW DPI/Fisheries have advised there is a slight delay with deployment of the Batemans Bay, Narooma and Bermagui FADS.
