Tenants young and old enjoyed an interactive concert and lunch last Tuesday, dancing and singing along with Santa at the annual Housing Trust Christmas event.
The Christmas Concert on December 6 was a free event through which the Housing Trust shows its appreciation for its tenants.
Housing Trust CEO Joan Ferguson said it was also a great way to bring the residents together.
“Our customers are at the heart of all we do,’’ Ms Ferguson said.
“It is great to be able to bring them together on this fun occasion to celebrate with them and thank them for their help over the past year. We really appreciate the many ways our customers help us out – whether they are involved in our Tenant Advisory Group, provide valuable feedback for the Housing Trust, or keep their homes in great condition.’’
More than 100 tenants enjoyed the Christmas Concert festivities at the Fraternity Club.
As well as dancing with Santa to John Clegg’s interactive music show and enjoying a delicious Christmas lunch, children received lolly bags and had their faces painted during the festivities.
“Have I had a good time? I’m breathless,’’ said long-term tenant and lolly-bag maker Jeanette Cameron, as she and her granddaughter Ivy left the dance floor.
“I feel like this year there is good food and more entertainment, and I got to jump around. Thank you, thank you for a lovely event today.’’
Julian Hacking also enjoyed the Christmas concert. “It’s great – for us grownups, this is beautiful. It’s good for the kids too.’’
Tenant Advisory Group member Helga Doblander said it was “nice just to sit together and have a talk and a laugh. It’s beautiful’’.
Three very lucky tenants won the lucky door prizes, leaving the concert with gift cards and Jamberoo Recreation Park tickets to top off a great day.
More than 50 per cent of the Housing Trust’s tenants are over 50. The Christmas concert was chosen to provide entertainment to a wider age range as well as catering for the kids. “Given all the dancing and singing that occurred, it certainly was a Christmas hit.’’
