The high school is up for 20 awards, including Best Orchestra for a School or Youth Production and Best Original Work for a School or Youth Production.
So Popera’s production of The Producers scored 11 nominations, including Best Production of a Musical and Best Actor in a Leading Role for both Daniel Downing as “Leo Bloom” and Scott Radburn as “Max Bialystock”.
HSC graduate Jeremy Boulton was nominated for two awards with his former high school, including: Best Original Work for a School or Youth Production and Best Youth Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
It comes as the 18-year-old was recently awarded a scholarship with Opera Australia.
The CAT Awards have been celebrating non-professional theatre, dance and the musical groups in Canberra and surrounding districts since 1994.
Winners will be announced for the first time in regional NSW, at the Dubbo Civic Theatre, on February 18, 2017.
