Mr McKeen, chief executive of The Cram Foundation, made the decision following a successful presentation of Illawarra’s Rio Olympians at an Illawarra Connection dinner and Olympic wall tile unveiling. He said Mr Kersten, of Colliers International, has been endorsed by the Australian Olympic Committee
Mr McKeen said it was good to have some new faces volunteering on the committee that raises funds to send athletes to the Olympics and he felt Mr Kersten was the ideal person to carry the committee forward. He was also responsible for recruiting his successor to the committee. Mr McKeen took over from David Morgan Williams as chair in 2010 and held the role for the London and Rio Olympic fundraising campaigns. He himself was involved in three Olympics as equestrian team manager in Atlanta, Sydney and Athens.
