In parliament this week Mr Scully said it was “time to end the 72-step struggle” – a reference to the number of steps people needed to navigate to reach the platform at Unanderra station.
He referred to the $25 million funding commitment from Labor to install lifts should it win the next state election in 2019.
“I challenge the government to match Labor’s funding pledge in the uncoming budget,” Mr Scully said.
“This is now a matter of fairness for the elderly and disabled who use and need to access public transport services at Unanderra station.”
Outside parliament Mr Scully said lifts at Unanderra station was “a key priority”.
The government has stated that an accessibility upgrade for Unanderra “will continue to be considered as part of the Transport Access Program’s prioritisation process”.
