A woman has been taken away in handcuffs after a man was stabbed at Warilla on Thursday.
Ambulance NSW Illawarra duty operations manager Inspector Norm Rees said paramedics found a man with a three centimetre wound to the left side of his chest on arrival at the property, on Grove Circuit.
The man, aged 32, was taken by road ambulance to Illawarra Regional Airport and airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition.
A second man with superficial wounds was assessed by paramedics and discharged at the scene.
Neighbour Dianne Morris said she heard furniture being thrown around and doors slamming before the incident occurred.
“I heard someone say ‘I’m going to kill you…,” Ms Morris said.
She said the group had been heard fighting in the backyard previously.
Another neighbour said a man who was seen throwing bricks at the property was later taken away in a police paddy wagon.
"One's in a paddy wagon, one went in a police van and the other went in the ambulance,” the resident said.
The resident said the police were called when some of those involved began behaving aggressively towards paramedics.
