Having grown up with the crosstown rivalry, Host admits watching the Sharks win the 2016 premiership stung particularly since he’s yet to convince Shivaun to jump ship – expecting her to be sporting the black white and blue.
“It did [hurt] a little bit especially because my missus is a Sharks so there’s a bit of a rivalry there,” Host said.
“She’s still a very, very strong Sharks fan. If we’re playing someone else she might chuck a Dragons jersey on and I’ll make sure I get a photo of her.”
It will be Host’s first taste of the rivalry at NRL level and he’s expecting a torrid encounter.
“When you go into these games no one really looks at form. There's a lot of energy and a lot of excitement around it so I’m sure both teams will be giving it everything they’ve got.”
