With the national elite and junior boxing titles just three weeks away proud Albion Park son – and recent world championship bronze medalist – Sam Goodman will take to the ring ahead of the men’s elite selection meet in Adelaide.
Recently crowned state champions Brock Harris and Athena Kinnas, who train under renowned coach Vito Gaudiosi at Croker’s Gym, will also be in action.
Gaudiosi, who will act as a coach on the NSW team heading to Adelaide next month, said junior boxing is as strong in the Illawarra as it has been for some time.
“That’s why I wanted to be involved this time. It’s been long time since we’ve had this many at nationals and it’s good to have local faces on the state team,” Gaudiosi said.
Tywarna Campbell and Zeke Campbell, the children of veteran pro Adrian Campbell, will also be gearing up for the Adelaide nationals.
Other local fighters include David Temelkov, son of former Australian junior-middleweight champion Alex, Jerry Jabbour, Maninga Clulow, Basheer Haider, Robb Gould, Paul Winston alongside numerous state and national champions.
It’s the fifth time PCYC NSW has brought a fight to Albion Park with it becoming a favourite event on the calendar for fighters.
Doors open at 6.30pm, tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for under 12s and $60 for family of four.
