Manufacturing continues a recent rising trend with the sector remaining strong nationally in March. The Australian Industry Group Australian Performance of Manufacturing Index (Australian PMI) registered a solid 57.5. Readings above 50 indicate expansion in activity and the greater the distance from 50 the stronger the growth.

Ai Group chief executive Innes Willox said March was the sixth consecutive month of expansion.
Mr Willox said the recovery in Australian manufacturing continued bouyed by a growth in sales, production, employment and exports.
The most robust sub-sectors are food and beverages, machinery and equipment; metals products and non-metallic minerals as new orders continue to grow strongly.
