Corrimal had five players representing Country, Rikeya Horne, Georgina Brooker, Tammy Fletcher, Alicia-Kate Hawke and Jade Etherden, as well as Berkeley’s Brittany Constable and Erin Blackwell from Helensburgh.
But Country trailed by 20 points, before scoring two late tries, the last to Constable in a 20-8 defeat.
Country started well, with Nowra-Bomaderry’s Talia Atfield almost scoring in the opening minutes.
Constable also went close late in the first half, Country were again denied and City went to the break leading 10-nil.
While City were to be without star five-eighth, Jillaroo and Helensburgh’s Allana Ferguson due to injury, captain and utility Lavina Phillips stepped into the role, taking out player of the game honours and making a case for a starting berth for NSW.
