Illawarra Mercury journalist Andrew Pearson will battle it out with 13 other contestants on the dance floor who also have the task of fundraising for the Cancer Council.
Mr Pearson has chosen a hip-hop routine and so far has raised just over $1300 (his target $3000).
“There was a guy I went to uni with who died of brain cancer at 21; it’s hearbreaking to see someone taken so young,” he said.
“Cancer affects everyone in some way.”
Other Illawarra personalities involved include Wollongong Police officer Rima Elhage, The Housing Trusts’s Jim O’Shea and radio host Maje Saba.
Tickets are still available for the gala dinner at WIN Entertainment Centre on June 3.
