And his circus friends say this kind of clowning around is no laughing matter.
Circus organisers discovered the four-metre tall clown, one of 30 dotted across Wollongong to promote the event, had disappeared from its temporary Dapto home on Wednesday morning.
The circus’ logistics manager, Jeff Weber, said the clown had been positioned behind a three metre-high fence at British Caravans, just off the Princes Highway.
“They were determined to get the clown, obviously,” Mr Weber said.
The clown was worth $2500 and the incident has been reported to police.
Mr Weber said a reward of $500 had been offered for the clown’s return.
“He’s got a jester’s hat and a lot of people would have seen them [the clowns] through the area,” he said.
Anyone who finds the clown, or knows its whereabouts, should call the circus on 1300 667 269.
The circus is being held at Warrawong’s Kully Bay Park until May 28.
