The girl’s friend was filming as she crossed paths with the rider on Sunday about 2.45pm. He curses on approach – “Dumb c—ts. Pedestrians over there. Get [out of] the f—kin’ road’ – before taking one hand off the handlebars to assault the girl.
The girl’s mother, Natasha Winter Marshall, reported the matter to Wollongong Police but has opted not to press charges.
“He’s an older guy – I don’t want to press charges, I just want to let him know it’s not alright to do something like that,” Mrs Winter Marshall told the Mercury.
“She’s gone to move to the side and he wallops her one, and then just keeps riding.
“I know my daughter shouldn’t have been walking on the bike path.
“If he would have just shouted at her and kept on riding, it wouldn’t have been a big deal - but to actually hit her?”
Mrs Winter Marshall said her daughter, Montana, had been jokingly singing for her friend’s camera shortly before she was hit.
The blow connected with her head.
She was shocked by the incident, but was uninjured.
