Illawarra Assistants Network (IAN) has been founded by local assistants to address a need they see in the regions business community.
The networking group is specifically for people in the executive and administrative support workforce. IAN is dedicated to providing a forum to network, share knowledge and offer support to like-minded peers.
Co-founder Laura Price, of Peoplecare, have had 110 membership enquiries and are expecting at least 50 people to the first meeting on July 24 at Peoplecares office.
She said around the world administrative teams formed the backbone of many businesses.
From executive assistants to office assistants, these roles provide support functions that allow their executives and managers to be as productive and effective as possible, she said.
Assistant roles do come with a lot of responsibility, and my fellow assistants and I often seek advice from one another to ensure we are doing the best job we can. Thats how we formed the Illawarra Assistants Network. It is important we support those who support others. The possibilities for personal development, building confidence and of course fun networking events, are endless.
Ms Price said the network would be a great way said most executive assistants these days supported a team of executives and not just one person.
Everyone we have heard is coming is really excited about the prospect in terms of training, education, development, networking and getting to know each other, she said.
The first meeting is being held at Peoplecare with the help of our sponsor Culinarius who will be catering. We are hoping for 50 to 100 people.
Rebecca Armstrong from Culinarius said the catering business had catered for a number of functions at Peoplecare over the years.
At our business we have a great relationship with a lot of PAs and EAs in the Illawarra, she said.
