A couple asleep in their beds were confronted by a robber and the man assaulted during a home invasion in Nowra early Wednesday morning.

Police said a man forced entry to the Bluewattle Road home at Worrigee and demanded cash from the couple who had been asleep in bed.
The invader struck the 67-year-old man with a piece of timber and the pair struggled into the hallway before the robber left the house taking a handbag, wallet and the couple’s Mazda 323.
The 67-year-old man was treated for minor injuries to his hand, shoulder and chest. His wife was not physically injured.
Police are searching for a man described as being about 175cm tall and wearing dark-coloured long, loose pants, a hoodie and a cap.
