Two commercial fishers were caught allegedly fishing unlawfully near Forster recently. The two men were allegedly using a meshing net and not using a discard chute to return fish to the water.
Discard chutes give fish a greater chance of survival when returned to the water, by reducing predation by birds. The two men face being charged with several serious offences.

As in previous years, NSW Roads and Maritime are endeavouring to drive home the message of wearing a modern, comfortable lifejacket when you're out on the water, especially when in smaller vessels.
Maritime has released their diary of proposed sites at various boat ramps where boaties can visit and view a wide range of jackets available and find out the ‘good oil’ from the officers in attendance.
The Illawarra is due for their visit to ramps at Bellambi down to Kiama over the weekend of November 18-19.
