Tuesday will likely be cloudy and dry, but Weatherzone forecasts light showers with between 1mm and 5mm of rain in Wollongong on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Between 5mm and 10mm of rain is forecast for Saturday.
The temperature is tipped to peak at 28 degrees on Monday, with a cooler rest of the week expected.
There is also a strong wind warning for the Illawarra and Sydney coasts.
The rain is a welcome relief as gardens and sports ovals have shrivelled over spring.
Wollongong, Sydney and NSW recorded their driest Septembers on record. No rain fell at Albion Park during September, with just 0.4mm recorded at Bellambi.
Prior to Sunday, the last rain that fell at Bellambi was 0.4mm on September 17 and before that 2.8mm in late August.
At Albion Park, 0.2mm was recorded on Friday. Prior to that, the most-recent rainy day was August 28 (when 1.2mm fell).
