Just a week out from the annual celebration of business success with the Illawarra Business Awards on Friday October 20 the membership of Illawarra First, Illawarra Business Chamber and local chambers met and confirmed the two women will remain in their respective roles for another two year term.
Illawarra Business Chamber executive director Chris Lamont said Ms Cullen and Mrs Harper have enormous pride and passion for the region and are both dedicated to the advancement of the region, local business and community development.
The Regional Advisory Council assists in developing ideas, concepts, policies and programs to support businesses and the development of the region.
It also provides a barometer on business activity and report on business trends and issues.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve a further term as regional president,” Ms Cullen said.
“We have achieved a lot over the last two years and though new initiatives like Illawarra First, IllawarraYES and new member services we look forward to providing additional support to local businesses and advancing new opportunities for this region”.
Mrs Harper said the chamber had advocated strongly to position the Illawarra to support the growing economies of Western Sydney and Sydney, while leveraging the competitive advantages of the Illawarra to support employment and economic growth.
“The Regional Advisory Council is united in efforts to help realise the full potential of the region. The Illawarra is ideally located and has a number of strategic assets, key institutions and expertise that can and should play a greater role in the economic future of NSW,” she said.
