The Illawarra is forming a posse and we have one man in our sights: NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance.
Time and again Andrew Constance has been found wanting when it comes to the transport issues which confront this region.
Now he and his government have rubbed salt into the wounds.
The announcement on Wednesday the free city loop bus was to come to an end in January is yet another example of this Minister screwing this region over.
And Mr Constance has poked a raging bull in the eye with a blunt stick.
The Illawarra stands ready to fight Minister Constance, Premier Berejiklian and their government all the way on this matter.
We will unite as one, across party divides and take the fight right up to the front door of Parliament House if required.
This decision, which has been poorly justified by the NSW Government, will hurt the people who can least afford it most.
Students and pensioners will be the ones who are disadvantaged the most by this decision.
Minister Constance what’s it feel like to rob the poor?
The Premier was on stage recently at the Illawarra Business Awards saying how the Illawarra was constantly at the forefront of the decisions her government makes.
Well if that was the case Premier you’d send Andrew Constance packing all the way back to Bega because he has failed in his duty to this region yet again.
“The service hasn't changed and will continue to operate for as long as there is a demand,” Mr Constance said in a feeble response.
“Introducing Opal fares means people will pay a contribution for running the service just like people do in Kiama, Nowra, Batemans Bay, Bega and the rest of NSW. Why should Wollongong be any different?"
This is an invaluable service to a city Minister. If you need us to explain it to you, you are simpler than we thought.
The phone number for the office of the Member for Bega, Andrew Constance, is (02) 6492 2056. Do us a favour and make your voice heard.
In Saturday’s edition we will be telling people how than can add their voice to a petition which will be presented in parliament protesting the decision. Mr Constance, this region and this masthead will not rest until your government overturns this decision.
