However this Tuesday will be the last Fashions On The Field Ms Kennedy will take part in at Kembla Grange for a while, as the milliner takes a step back from the fashion industry for a change of pace in the scaffolding business.
After completing a Diploma in Building and Construction the artist decided to embark on a career with Waco Kwikform, who are this year’s sponsor of Fashions On The Field at the Illawarra Turf Club on cup day.
“I’m bringing a bit of glamour to the construction industry,” she said.
Ms Kennedy said it was an emotional time as the TG brand was created as a tribute to her late father in 2012, though she was not closing the door on fascinators completely.
“I am still a milliner,” she told the Illawarra Mercury. “And I now only make a few pieces a year for private racing clients.”
For around 14 years Mrs Kennedy’s creations have graced race tracks, weddings and other special events around the Illawarra. Her previous brand, Victoria Kennedy was stocked in David Jones nationally.
VICTORIA’s ON TREND TIPS
- Pants suits are back on trend but keep the length appropriate and leave the shorts for the beach.
- This is a day event and racing has a great tradition that should be respected – leave the miniskirts and nightclub wear for night time and opt for a classy but fun outfit.
- Choose a headpiece or hat that compliments your face and your outfit and shouldn’t look like a last minute haphazard add on.
- Wear fabulous shoes but don’t forget comfort. Grab party feet insoles so you don’t end up like a shoeless tragic at the end of the day.
- Most of all be well groomed, confident and enjoy yourself!
