Illawarra dominated the match from the get go, restricting South Eastern to 8/166 off 50 overs. Jamie Phillipson was the pick of the bowlers, with figures of 3/21 off 10 overs.
When the two teams returned to the field, opener Jayden Zahra-Smith made sure any hope of a South Eastern victory was quickly eliminated. Zahra-Smith carried his bat as he led Illawarra to the victory with an unbeaten 90.
The team will now play Newcastle in the final after the Novocastrian’s defeated Canterubury & Western Suburbs in the other semi-final.
Sunday also marked the second round of the Presidents cup, with Illawarra recording another successful round of results. Facing tough Sydney opponents, the under 11s, 12s and 13s all recorded victories. The under 14s and 16s suffered defeats.
