However, locally the water had turned over and was a horrible green colour.
There were some excellent kingfish on offer further down the coast last week from Jervis Bay way down to Eden.
A heck of a lot of kingies over the magic metre mark were taken from most of the usual haunts around Jervis Bay with down rigging live slimies proving the most successful and the most desired bait.
Narooma, Bermagui and Merimbula also had some great fishing on offer for those chasing these kings.
They were on offer at spots like Tathra and Merimbula wharves with a couple of fish well over the metre mark that had to be virtually skull dragged up onto the decking using very efficient flying rock gaffs.
Most local fishos spent the weekend getting gear and boats ready for the holiday break just around the corner, especially with all the bleak forecasts that were reported but didn’t eventuate.
A few locals took the conditions on late on Sunday afternoon and found some nice pan sized snapper and plenty of rat kings.
The weather looks like being a lot better this weekend than last.
After the stir up of the last few days, the fishing should be nothing short of red hot for pretty much whatever species you are chasing.
With the rain we have had of late, a lot of the creeks are looking a lot better and the bass fishing is certainly hotting up with some great captures being seen over the last week on social media.
Lake Illawarra has really started to hit its straps of late with plenty of good sized flatties getting about.
Also along the bank edges and sand bars have been fishing great on the surface for bream.
Try small pencil poppers for whiting on the run up tides but only if you don’t have a cardiac condition as it is an awesome fishing and capture method to see a bow wave explode behind your popper.
