Paul Rawson from Finance Control, representatives from McDonald’s, Todd Gibson and David Manalo from McDonald’s, Steve Chlopicki, of QBE Foundation, Daniel Rowan, of Internetrix, Kiama MP Gareth Ward and Print Media’s Johnny Petrovic were among those acknowledged. But also in the room were two cleaners who have helped KidzWish over many many years.
Chris Beaven said the foundation could not do what it does without so much generous support from so many. “After I started the foundation 16 years ago it was only through the support of sponsors that we are where we are today”.
She recalled working in marketing McHappy Day in Sydney many years ago and saying to the marketing manager at the time that she was going to host a Christmas party for disadvantaged children in the Illawarra wand would McDonalds provide meals to 300 children. The answer was yes and her husband John and volunteers went to McDonalds Fairy Meadow to pick them up. Now they are cooked on site at the WIN Entertainment Centre for 4300 children.
“They never let this region down,” she said.
Mrs Beaven said business such as Print Media did all the printing.
She said demand was only increasing with construction now underway on the new KidzWish Place which will cater for even more sick, disabled and disadvantaged children when it opens in late 2018.
“Affective has been amazing,” she said.
