With a nod to the Illawarra, Wigan will wear a special Steelers-inspired jumper in their preparations for the first ever Super League competition game to be played outside of Europe in February.

The kit was launched in England on Wednesday (AEST), before the Warriors tackle Hull.
The warm-up jumper will still feature Wigan’s darker cherry shade of red, rather than the Steelers’ scarlet and white, made famous by the likes of Michael Bolt, John Dorahy, Brett Rodwell and Trent Barrett. However, it will include the Illawarra-style stripes on the arms.
Wigan legends Steve Hampson and Gary Connolly launched the unique jumper, the pair set to join the Wigan tour as club ambassadors.
“It is fitting that we mark the special relationship between Wigan and the Illawarra region with this fantastic jersey which I think will prove very popular both (in England) and Down Under,” Warriors executive director Kris Radlinski said.
“The Illawarra region is steeped in rugby league and it will be a huge privilege for the players to wear this jersey at WIN Stadium in February.
“I am really thrilled that two of our all-time greats are joining us on this trip.”
Wigan tackle Hull, playing for Super League competition points, on Saturday, February 10 at WIN Stadium.
The Dragons play Hull at ANZ Stadium on February 17, while Souths play Wigan, before St George Illawarra meet St George Illawarra in the Charity Shield at Mudgee the following weekend.
The Dragons open the NRL season against Brisbane on March 8.
