A tip-off from the public prompted police to visit an address on Lowanna Place Friday evening.
Shortly after 7pm they allegedly discovered the 200cm-tall Primmer, hiding in the home’s roof cavity.
The property is less than a three-kilometre walk from the Unanderra Reintegration Centre, where Primmer slipped away unnoticed late Thursday.
Lake Illawarra Police Chief Inspector Steve Johnson said Primmer would be charged with escaping lawful custody.
Police will not say what linked Primmer to the address.
”Police will be speaking to the residents of the home in relation to him being located there,” he said.
Primmer was serving a five-month non-parole period for driving and theft offences.
With only about three weeks of the sentence remaining, his disappearance from the minimum-security facility, overnight Thursday, perplexed authorities.
