The way he is headed at the moment the Member for Bega will be hard pressed just to become the next Member for Bega.
To say the Transport Minister is having a bad run would be somewhat of an understatement.
On current form, the Transport Minister could add “Crap King Midas” to his business card.
Everything he touches turns to … well, you know the rest.
His latest debacle would be almost hysterical if it wasn’t actually true.
You see the Transport Minister tried to tell the public a $100,000 ferry-naming poll had resulted in one of Sydney’s ferries being named Ferry McFerryface.
Yet it has now come to light the poll was a complete sham an in fact the Minister approved the stupid name himself – at the expense of popular choice, environmental campaigner and Clean Up Australia founder Ian Keirnan.
Mr Keirnan made his feelings totally clear on Wednesday.
“He’s made a balls-up of it,” Mr Kiernan said referring to the Transport Minister.
“It’s a political hijack, that’s what it is. I’m not particularly concerned about it except that the public’s been deceived. They voted, they selected it, then the government grabs it.
“It’s disgraceful that this has become politicised.”
Mr Constance tried to play it off as a bit of a joke on Tuesday when Channel Nine revealed the lie, but he was the only one laughing.
Minister, the joke is on you.
You have gone from becoming a leader within your government to a liability.
There will come a time soon when Premier Gladys Berejiklian, herself a former Transport Minister, will need to act on the transport portfolio.
This latest debacle comes on the back of recent months of community discontent.
A disastrous and debilitating strike of the train system was narrowly avoided and the MInister’s handling of the situation was roundly criticised.
The Transport Minister had earlier sparked similar outrage and discontent in Wollongong by announcing an end to the free Gong Shuttle.
It makes you wonder what will be next.
