The home at 44 Mountain Avenue sold for $880,000.
The single-level, light-filled brick veneer home has three bedrooms, large open plan living/dining and large covered in-ground pool.
The property also hosted the family business Sue’s Swim School, run by Sue Picton, for 38 years.
Mrs Picton, who has retired, estimated she taught “thousands” of northern suburbs children to swim there.
Mrs Picton said she was downsizing to a home just two streets away.
“My husband Joe died in June, so that’s one of the reasons I’m downsizing,” she said.
She said the home held fond memories of helping students achieve goals.
“When the kids would get to the school and they can’t swim, and (later) when you see them getting themselves across the pool or up the pool, that’s a big achievement and I took pride in making sure the children swam the correct way,” she told the Mercury.
She didn’t believe the new owners, a young family from Sydney, would be continuing the business.
Selling agent, Nigel Walsh from Dignam Real Estate said the sale “really is the end of an era”.
“I think many northern suburbs residents would have memories of learning to swim here,” he said.
