The hunt for the person, or people, responsible for killing Nathan Costello in a targeted early-morning attack on a suburban Unanderra street was continuing late on Wednesday.

Investigators have released little information about what unfolded on Carr Parade just after 2am on Wednesday.
What is known is emergency services were called to the street about 2.15am, and found Mr Costello, aged in his 30s, on the nature strip of a home with a gunshot wound.
Police officers conducted CPR until paramedics arrived, but he couldn’t be saved. “We believe this is a targeted shooting and we do not believe the community at large are at risk,” Detective Chief Inspector Glen Broadhead said.
Inspector Broadhead was unable to disclose what type of gun was used, or detail where the man was shot.
“That’s subject to the investigation and we’re not going to reveal at this point in time where the actual shooting has occurred,” he said on Wednesday morning.
The number of shots fired was also subject was being investigated, as was the motive behind the attack, he said.
A number of people were present at the time of the shooting, with detectives seen going door-to-door, speaking with neighbours.
“We’re looking at access points in and out of where the shooting has occurred and we’ll certainly be looking to obtain CCTV footage,” Inspector Broadhead said.
Forensic police spent the morning scouring the scene for evidence. A dark-coloured car – which had two bullet holes visible in the back driver’s side window – was examined by officers.
The car was parked on the gutter, near where the shot man was found injured on the nature strip outside the home.
Inspector Broadhead said that vehicle formed part of the ongoing investigation.
He was unable to detail the origin of the gunshots, including whether they were fired from a passing vehicle.
“We’ll be speaking to witnesses in relation to what they may have seen ... and that will certainly determine as to how the shooting has occurred [and] as to whether a motor vehicle was used,” he said. A separate crime scene was set up in reserve off Derribong Drive at Cordeaux Heights, where a burnt-out car was found shortly after the Unanderra shooting.
“We haven’t been able to link anything at this point in time. However, that will form part of our inquiries,” he said.
Police officers, including from the public order and riot squad, searched the reserve. Late on Wednesday, police said investigations were ongoing and it was unclear how many people were involved in the shooting.
