Professor Evans is presently the chancellor at the Australian National University and will share his experiences in the political and international arena including his time as cabinet minister in the Hawke and Keating Labor Governments from 1983-96.
During his 21 years in Australian politics Prof Evans was leader of the government in the Senate and later deputy leader of the opposition in the House of Representatives.
From 2000 to 2009 he was president and chief executive of ndependent global conflict prevention and resolution organisation the Brussels-International Crisis Group.
He has written or edited 13 books including his most recent called “Incorrigible Optimist: A Political Memoir”.
